Reflection

In my blog, I connected each entry into a topic that I have learned this year in various different classes. For each entry, I connected the post to at least 1 subject in school and could connect my thoughts in my blog to at least 1 ATL skill. Mandala: In this blog entry, I connected my blog entry to school subjects art and a foreign language. I connected these 2 subjects with my mandala by seeing art and a theme in nature and a foreign language because this mandala itself is its own language, something new to learn but once you find it out, you can always get it and understand it. The ATL skill that I used in this entry is thinking. I used thinking in this post because I had to think about the subjects that I could use in this entry. Forest Bathing: I connected this blog entry to P.E and science in this entry. I connected P.E to this entry by talking about the great health benefits that forest bathing has and how P.E, its all about being healthy. I also connected this to science by...

Mary Oliver Poem

Image
The Egret        The Egret is a poem by Mary Oliver about all the little fish and the frogs being in the water when the egrets show up. When they do they are both terrified of being eaten. It's almost like its a surprise attack. This relates to American History Majorly. This relates to historical figure George Washington after his heroics at the Battle of Trenton during the War for Independence.       The Battle of Trenton is considered by some the turning point in the war. On December 25, 1776 Geroge Washington and 5,400 soilders crossed the Delaware River in hopes of surprise attacking a force of Hessians. Washington led his troops across the river and then he spilt his troops up into 2 groups and then he surrounded the city full of Hessians. Washington took over 1000 prisoners while just losing 4 American Lives. This was a big surprise attack that boosted America's moral in the war. This action relates to The Egret. Both the poem and the ba...

Circles in Nature

Image
Circles in Nature        There are many circles in natures. For example, the ends of trees, flowers such as sunflowers or dandelions, and also holes in the ground that some animals have build for a home. Going outside to find circles in nature can sometimes be a hard process to find a good circle or a circle with a meaning, but there are actually a lot of circles in nature that were naturally made. Going outside to find circles in nature would be for someone who is into art and who is into math.        Circles in nature can represent many different things. For example, some circles can represent harm such as when the bottom of a tree has indentions in it. Another circle could represent love when you find a circle on a flower. Whatever the circle may represent, each circle has some form of art of it. It has all types of color, many types of texture, and many different lines. It also represents something just like a painting would or just a...

Forest Bathing

Image
Signal Mountain Middle High Outdoor Classroom April 25,2017 1:45 P.M        The Japanese have invented a new way to absorb nature. It Japan, this technique is called Shinrin-yoku, in America this means forest bathing. The idea of forest bathing is "If a person simply visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way there are calming, rejuvenating, and restorative benefits to be achieved." I have tried forest bathing myself and it was very relaxing. My class and I went outside to the Signal Mountain Middle High School Outdoor Classroom and we were completely still. We absorbed nature and didn't have any distractions. I would recommend this for anyone who loves P.E or science.        Forest bathing has a lot of health benefits and so anyone would likes P.E (physical education) and likes to live a healthy life style would love forest bathing. The goal of forest bathing is to maintain good health by just going outside and being relaxed. So take ...

Mandala

St. Augustine Catholic Church Wednesday April 26, 2017 6:25 P.M        I sit down and I just look straight ahead. Everything is silent and the land of my Manadala is right in front of me. The idea of a Manadala for nature is to have the whole universe wrapped up into a single space. This is it right here. Everything that I need to nature is right here. I can relate this space to anyone who is interested in art or a person who is interested in learning another language.        For people who like art, the art is right in front of you. You have beauty with every blade of grass and all the little things, such as the different colors of the grass and when the flowers start to come up. It can be the littlest things that could make the biggest difference. Every detail matters in nature just like every detail matters in art and if you take out just a small detail in either art or nature, it could change the idea of the message that it presents. ...
